FINAL REFLECTIONS...
Out of all of my ancestors the one(s) I would like to meet most would be...
This statement is actually very hard for me to complete because I think it would be so neat to meet all of my amazing ancestors and talk to them about their unique experiences in their lives. Through this project, though, I think I have discovered a greater desire within me to get to know the amazing women that came before me. Their lives as wives, mothers, teachers, and leaders, gives me a strong admiration for them and a desire to follow in their footsteps. I researched the lives of Mary Ann Angell and Emma Elizabeth Morgan. By getting to know about their lives better I noticed how amazing it would to meet each one of them!
My Great-great-great-great Grandmother, Mary Ann Angell would be an inspiring person to meet and talk to her about her many experiences as a faithful wife of a prophet of God. I would love to be able to talk to her and receive some advice for my own life on how to endure through trials with faith and perseverance, believing in good things to come. I admire her so much for the life she led and would love to meet her!
By studying so much more about my Great Grandmother, Emma Elizabeth Morgan Young, I feel like I got to know her better and feel closer to her through the things I learned. I think it would be so neat to meet her and ask her face to face about the experiences that she had during the 1900s, and through the Great Depression. I am interested in learning more about her and the things that she experienced as a child, as well as an adult. It was so awesome to hear more about her and her family from my Grandfather during this project as well. I feel as if I already know her in some ways and would love to meet her! I admire her for the great and caring mother she was!
What I have learned from doing this project...
I feel as if I have gained so much from doing this project! Through the research and study, I have honestly gained a better appreciation and interest for those who have come before me. I have a greater desire to learn more about all of my ancestors, even more than the ones I have studied about during this project. By researching on the topic of the Great Depression, I gained a greater and more interested perspective on how to look at history with the interest of connecting the events to real people. I loved how I was able to research some of my ancestors first and then do a research essay relating to something that occured during their lifetime, so it was more meaningful to me. I learned that I can link many events in history to my ancestors, which, I think, will help me relate to those events more. I also feel as if I have gained a greater appreciation for America and also gained a realization of how much it really has changed in the past hundred years or so. By interviewing my grandfather, I gained a different perspective and was grateful for the advice that I received from him about my future. I think that some of the skills I improved on while doing this project were my skills to be able to: for one, organize my thoughts in a certain manner on a website, and to also think deeper and relate more of the things I learn to my own life. I believe this will be a great skill in my life because it will help me to be more motivated to learn new things from a different perspective and to be able to grow and improve in life from those things that I learn. So, overall, although this project did take hard work and perseverance at times, I was grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow from this experience and gain a greater appreciation for my ancestors and my country.
THANK YOU!!
