Brigham Young
I am proud to have Brigham Young as my ancestor. He was a great and honored man and second President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His many victories and successes as a leader of the church and leader of his family are venerated among many. He was an amazing man with strong faith and perseverance through so much hardship that happened to the Saints during that time in the 1800s. He was born on June 1st, 1801 in Whitingham, Windham, Vermont. From an early age, Brigham was always taught Christian values and became devoted to religion and faith. By the end of April 1832 him and his family had been baptized into the LDS church and become some of the most devoted Mormons so far. When the former Prophet, Joseph Smith, was martyred in 1844, Brigham Young was sustained by the membership of the church and became the second Prophet of the church. When the Saints were forced out of Nauvoo, Brigham Young was the one who led the great exodus to the new valley of Salt Lake City. He died on August 29th, 1877 after establishing a firm foundation for the great city of Utah that we live in today.
Hearing about Brigham Young my whole life has been a huge inspiration and motivation to me. The life he led was a life of faith, strength, love of God and of all men, authority, and wisdom. I wish that I could know more about his family life and more of his emotions that he had towards his wives and children. He was such a great man that has passed on his legacy through our family's line and I hope that I can lead as great a life has he once did, making a huge impact on the world.
